In October 2021, Lauren and Marc held their intimate and unique camp style wedding in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in a place they hold near and dear to their hearts. This place – with acres of pristine nature and uninterrupted shoreline – is a spot Lauren’s family has been visiting for four generations and where Marc eventually proposed. Returning here to become husband and wife in front of their closest family and friends was an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.
Lauren and Marc stayed on-site for the days leading up to their wedding, in which Lauren foraged and arranged floral pieces for the bouquet and boutonnière. Weeds and wildflowers she found in the woods were crafted into ceremony decor and organza was hung from the trees where their ceremony would be held.
Their wedding day together started with a first look and a private exchange of vows. Then, with all of their guests, they took a boat across a lake to the ceremony spot, where a campfire was burning and Marc’s grandfather was ready to officiate. Tree rings the couple foraged were used instead of traditional ring boxes. Lauren’s sister read out loud a letter their grandmother wrote about this spot in the Northwoods in 1951. Instead of the predicted rain on their wedding day, the couple had a perfect weather with the sun peaking out from behind the clouds just in time for the crowd to raise a champagne toast as Lauren and Marc were pronounced husband and wife.
In lieu of a traditional cocktail hour, guests cruised the lake on pontoons before heading in for a plated dinner. The table settings were hand-drawn by the bride. Lauren and Marc closed the evening out with a private first dance – surrounded by nothing but nature, in true Northwoods fashion.
