I grew up near Madison. When I say near, I mean “rural near” – a quick 60 minute drive – but it was the closest city with anything to do. On the weekends, I’d often make the trip to go shopping with my mom or go to concerts with my cousin at The Loft. We’d get to the shows early so we could be the first in line and were usually most interested in seeing the opening bands.
The city of Madison holds fond memories for me and it’s a place where I could always see myself living. Milwaukee has its charm, too, and we don’t plan on moving anytime soon – but if there is ever another city in Wisconsin we’d move to, it would for sure be in the 608. Next time we’re in town, The Old Fashioned is on our list of places to try.
It is such a joy when we have the opportunity to head back to Madison to take engagement pictures. With Maria and Dane, we started at the Capitol and walked down to James Madison Park on Lake Mendota (with a few quick stops along the way). This is their city. Their story here has only just begun.
