Villa Terrace is one of those wedding venues that always leads to stunning pictures as it transports you to a different place and time. As photographers, we witness a number of larger than life moments like this, but there was something extra special about Emily and Tom’s day.
In April, we got married. (I promise this story is related.) Our day was a funky fun day at Dandy, a Milwaukee antique store that doubles as a venue. Joe wore a black suit, I wore a white Sarah Seven dress, and it was everything we dreamed.
What does this have to do with Emily and Tom? Theirs was the first wedding we photographed after our own, and it was a clone of our “version B” wedding plans. If Joe hadn’t worn a black suit, he would have worn an emerald green suit. If we hadn’t gotten married at Dandy, we would have gotten married at Villa Terrace. And, the cherry on top of the cake is that I tried on Emily’s dress at Strike Bridal Bar. And if we had chosen Villa Terrace as our wedding venue, I would have said yes to that soft, flowy, floral print Tara LaTour wedding gown.
Emily and Tom’s Villa Terrace wedding of our literal dreams seemed straight out of a fairytale. The elegant architecture, intricate details and lush gardens of the venue created an atmosphere that exuded both grandeur and intimacy. It felt as if time stood still, allowing love and celebration to thrive.
Undoubtedly, this wedding was styled beautifully. But it truly was the people who made this day the most magical. Filled with jokes and laughter, E+T never take themselves too seriously. Because Villa Terrace is a historic home in Milwaukee converted into an art museum and wedding venue, there are bath tubs throughout the building. Naturally, E+T filled them with rubber duckies to give their guests a laugh.
Tom, part of an acapella group in college (and also really good at trivia), got his wedding party together to serenade Emily with “Kiss the Girl” from Little Mermaid after toasts. But not before his best man asked him to stand up to put him to the ultimate trivia tests.
Guests from near and far spent the night dancing, giggling, and cheering these two on at a celebration none of us will ever forget.
Villa Terrace is a wedding venue and art museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with a romantic Italian Renaissance vibe. The mansion and gardens have a number of options to select from when it comes to choosing your ceremony and reception space. The library doubles as a getting-ready space for one partner, while the other partner can get ready in the floral room upstairs.
