West Bend, Wisconsin
Allie and Mason
Earlier this year, we were sitting in a coffee shop with Mason and Allie (look for some of their engagement session pictures in our gallery!). As they told us their wedding day plans and described the romantic and whimsical boho elements, we oo-d and awed in delight with every detail they shared. They told us how Allie’s mom was going to make all of the flower arrangements for the day and that they were planning to order coffee from Allie’s favorite place to pair with donuts for dessert. They’re easy going, and their day was going to reflect that. They just wanted to be surrounded by the people they love.
Did plans change? Slightly. But did COVID succeed it’s attempt to ruin everything fun? Absolutely not. All of their ideas came together so well, despite some of the craziest circumstances that surely none of us imagined.
Instead of a local venue and a big crowd, Allie and Mason exchanged vows with those closest to them at Allie’s parents’ house in West Bend. It was a better fit for them than any venue I could imagine. I mean, this house looks like it is straight out of a magazine! It has the cutest boho vintage decor and string lights in the backyard (plus, how sweet is it to get married in your family’s backyard?!).
The day started out just as luck would have it: raining. As Allie’s bridesmaid put flowers in her hair and secured her veil, the mothers of the bride and groom put last minute touches on the decor. It was hard to tell if they would get to have their ceremony outside or if it would have to move indoors, but with a last minute check of the radar, it looked like we would be all in the clear.
It was finally time. Mason stood under a beaded arch waiting for his bride. The bridesmaids in textured blush dresses and the groomsmen in navy suits joined the groom, and finally, Allie had her moment to walk down the aisle (looking stunning, of course). Her dress was boho inspired with lace and bell sleeves that paired perfectly with her long, curly hair and big smile. You’d think a well-practiced professional florist made her bouquet, but the flowers were all arranged by her mom and, I’m telling you, those peonies were a dream. For the groomsmen who were betting that Mason would cry, it was a victorious moment as Allie’s dad handed her off to a happy groom and “I dos” were exchanged.
After, the guys had post-ceremony cigars, we did the formal photography thing, and just when everyone was ready to eat, our phones did that loud buzzing thing that happens when there’s a tornado warning. Luckily, there was a tent in the backyard to protect us from the downpour that suddenly accompanied, and a prayer was able to be said ahead of people working their way inside.
It ended up being a safe, happy, eventful day. It’s a day that no one will ever forget, and surely one their babe will love to hear one day (peep the CUTEST baby bump!).
Okay, last thing: I can’t end this post without saying how obsessed I am with the teal wedding ring.
Biggest congratulations to this sweet couple!
