Tall, dark, and handsome. An old romantic cliche and the best way to describe Sandro, who you’ll meet later. On a warm summer’s night, Mequon Homestead High School senior, Kristen, met up with us for her senior pictures just outside of Cedarburg. It’s wild that the class of 2021 is starting their final year of high school and graduation is just around the corner.
Doing something you love for your senior session will always make it more special. Luckily, Kristen had the perfect thing in mind. Cedar Creek Equestrian Center is the home of Kristen’s horse. When she finally introduced us to Sandro, we knew we’d all be good friends – Sandro was not afraid to eat a lot or fart in front of us. That’s the sign of true love, right?
Jokes aside, Sandro’s rich brown coat looked so silky next to Kristen’s pink dress as they danced and pranced in the fields. For her second outfit, Kristen brought in alll the elements we love: neutrals, textures, and details. Her knit tank and plaid shorts were topped off with a little necklace and butterfly earrings. (The people who tell us they don’t know what to wear always show up with the cutest clothes! Seriously!) Again, her and Sandro coordinated perfectly. The outfit as a whole had adorable equestrian vibes. (I swear there’s a 90s Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen movie I’m trying to compare it to, but I can’t think of it. Does anyone know?!) Sandro seemed so content as Kristen cuddled up with him as the sky got darker. There could be no better man to take her senior pictures with on the whole planet.
Lastly, we did the thing we did best – take pictures long into dusk, when most people would have called it a night. There is something so enjoyable about working with limited light. Not only does it give us an opportunity to whip out the flash to make our own sunlight; it also gives us a change to be creative with the light that’s available. We love the vintage look of a natural light late night photo shoot, and of course, Kristen’s outfit was spot on for the look. This 90s baby is living for the 90s film nostalgia.
As I wrap up this post, I can’t NOT mention that Kristen did her own makeup for her session. As you look through these pictures, notice how on point her highlighter is!! And those brows are my goalsssss. Kristen, we adore you. Thank you for hanging with us and letting us meet your sweet horse. Cheers to your senior year!
Why not do something you love for your high school senior pictures? Class of 2022, if you’re a winter sport person and want to include it in your pictures, now’s the time to get your session on the calendar.
